failed to install APP on to VM780

I am trying to install a test version of our apps on the VM780 body cam but keep getting the following error when installing the encoder.

Adb: failed to install mo\app-encoder-release.apk: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE:  Package com.motion.android.encoder signatures do not match the previously installed version; ignoring!]

I have tried removing the encoder app and re-installing but it fails again.
The viewer and combined app seem to be OK so I think it is something to do with the encoder app being in start-up.
Can this be disabled and then re-enabled with the new app?
